Centre Point
The mixed-use building consists of two levels of convenience retail above three levels of basement parking offering access to the centre above. At the top of the building there are two floors of residential apartments.
Combining retail and residential programmes ensures the development has a 24/7 life contributing positively to the neighbourhood.
Centre Point has a long heritage; it was the leading shopping destination for Milnerton residents for three decades since the centre was originally developed in the early 1970s. When the Public Investment Corporation purchased the existingcentre, KMH was engaged to design a new mixed-use building on the site to fulfil the clients’ aspiration that the new centre became the nexus of Milnerton’s historic CBD renewal.
The new mixed-use building consists of two levels of contemporary convenience retail with the mainentrance on Koeberg Road. Three levels of basement parking offer direct access to the shopping centre above. At the top of the building there are two floors of residential apartmentswith their own address on Langerman Road.
Combining the retail and residential programmes ensures the development will have a 24/7 life and contribute positively to the surroundingneighbourhood.
The design is forward looking, deliberately not referencing the surrounding context, but ratherproviding an aspirational vision of what Milnerton’s CBD could become.
