Canal Walk Ablutions
The Canal Walk toilet upgrade aimed to provide a much-needed facelift, including a contemporary yet classic feel, enhanced lighting, and at the same time upgrading services which had remained the same since the malls inception.
The project called for an extensive upgrade of all existing toilet blocks serving Canal Walk. Additional spaces were reconfigured to accommodate new parent-child toilets, eastern toilet facilities, nappy change stations and mothers feeding facilities. Entrance doors into the toilets were eliminated by cleverly obstructing site lines into the spaces.
The choice of new fittings had to be robust to manage the sheer volume of patrons who frequent mall. In collaboration with interior designers, a new contemporary look and feel was implemented along with some classical elements.
Large format marble-look tiles pair well with the warmer timber textures to the cubicle doors. A general tile was chosen for floors and walls. Bespoke brushed bronze trims bring sophistication to the material pallet which interplays well with the lighting scheme.
The renovation work was undertaken in a live trading environment which required careful planning to deliver without inconveniencing patrons of Canal Walk.
