Stellenbosch University - Quad and Power Machine Laboratories

The old Power Machine Laboratory was completely modernised and the old quadrangle overlooked by it was roofed over and converted into the new Quad Laboratory - both for the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch. The interiors match the New Pavement Laboratory to give interior design
continuity across the faculty.

The existing 300m² quadrangle in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty at the University of Stellenbosch (overlooked by the existing Power Machine Laboratory) was completely roofed over to provide a shell for the new Quad Laboratory.

A new 160m² mezzanine floor was constructed within the Power Machine Laboratory to expand the teaching and experimental laboratory space to
600m² in total. The combined area of both the new Quad Laboratory and expanded Power Machine Laboratory totals 900m².

Both laboratories were fully fitted out to match the hard wearing industrial look of the New Pavement Laboratory (NPL) maintaining the edge of
refinement and detail which forms part of the considered and thoughtful architectural modernisation of the Civil Engineering and Electrical & Electronic Engineering Faculties.
