Nashua required a new head office in Cape Town and the brief was to incorporate a warehouse, workshop and offices into the space.
The brief was for the creation of Nashua’s new head office in Cape Town, incorporating a mixed-use typology of warehouse, workshop and office spaces to fulfill the tenant’s unique requirements. A keen focus on the end user and superior building
performance criteria from the client necessitated the use of strong sustainable design principles.
These included locally sourced materials, façade shading, optimal building orientation and the elimination of glazing along the north elevation
to reduce solar heat gain. These principles created temperate, naturally lit, naturally ventilated spaces that contribute to the creation of a building that not only stands out but enhances the local context in which it finds itself.
