Old Mutual Daycare
A new daycare centre catering for 375 children was built on the extreme west
portion of Mutual park in Pinelands. Numerous environmentally sound and sustainable features were also incorporated into the building, like grey water recycling, natural ventilation and solar-heated hot water systems.
The new Old Mutual Daycare Centre is a corporate children’s early learning facility for the exclusive use of Old Mutual staff at Mutualpark situated in
Pinelands, Cape Town.
The single-storey facility can cater for a total of 375 children raging in ages from three months to six years. The building comprises a series of wings
extending from the west to the east joined by a central unifying corridor with the corridor and the wings all having access to sheltered courtyards
which open to a grass playground between the wings, within a fully secured perimeter.
The building uses environmentally sound and sustainable construction methods and all landscaping and planting is indigenous to the Cape.
