The Soshanguve Mall development consists of two phases, the first phase being ±7500m2 Value Centre which opened in April 2024, and the second phase, a ±55 500m² double tiered retail mall due for completion end of 2025.

The architectural design of Soshanguve Mall embraces the natural context of the Tswaing Meteor crater and celebrates the multicultural composition of the population reflected in the name "Soshanguve." This design description explores the conceptual approach of Soshanguve Mall, emphasizing its design goals, themes, and concepts and demonstrating how they align with the project brief and site analysis. The development aims to amplify the inspirations derived from the natural context and diverse cultural influences. By drawing inspiration from these factors, the design creates a unique and meaningful architectural expression that resonates with the local context and fosters a sense of pride and inclusivity within the community.

The mall's design prioritizes functionality, ensuring efficient circulation, convenient access, and optimized space utilization. It aims to provide a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience for visitors while accommodating the needs of tenants and service providers.

The central link mall aims to create a meaningful heart to the mall - "it’s where the meteor has landed". The central double volume connects node 1 being entrance 2 and node 2. Circulation is rationalized to make either node mini centres. The proposal affords better legibility for patrons, improves circulation, improves natural light quality and a better retail environment for tenants. The design of these nodes aims embody the historical crash landing of the Ditsong Tswaing meteorite, they depict the atmospheric entry, decent and mighty landing of the crater.

The intermediate cores position themselves at the halfway point between Central Link Mall and the predominant entrance cores. This provides a moment of relief and breaks up the length of the line malls. The space provides a unique colour block moment which dresses the walls across the two levels. The east intermediate cores have a staircase and lift each, whereas the west intermediate cores only staircases.

The urban activation zone is a key social link between the value centre and the main mall. It serves as a non-descript space which affords various recreational and promotional activities. The Landlord has the flexibility to rent the area out to brands etc. for short term activations (car displays, concerts, markets, festivals).

The architectural design of Soshanguve Mall embodies a holistic approach that combines the inspirations derived from the natural context of the Tswaing Meteor crater and the multicultural composition of Soshanguve.
