Rod brings experienced team leadership, an in-depth contractual knowledge and refined problem solving skills to his work. Projects in the transport sector, primarily airports and railway stations, and in the performing arts are his core competencies.
He works closely with clients at a strategic level to masterplan complex projects and then ensures the clients’ aspirations are delivered by careful management of design and consultant teams.
Born and raised in Durban, Rod moved to the Cape to study architecture and graduated from the University of Cape Town with a BArch degree in 1984.
Rod is an active member of the profession and is currently the Chairman and Convener of the City Engagement: Practice Notes Committee for the Cape Institute of Architecture.
The design for St Helena Airport won the 2012 Construction World Best Project.
When he is not at work, Rod is passionately involved in the performing arts, particularly classical music and opera where he serves as the Chairman of Friends of Orchestral Music and is also a Board member of the Cape Town Concert Series.
