The University of the Western Cape appointed KMH to design the new Petro Synthetic Fuel Research Innovation Centre.

The brief called for a research and development centre for Synthetic Fuels sponsored by Petrosa.
The building provides the various laboratories with an array of services ie. gas, electrical, HVAC with a
double-volume testing area for novel inventions such as the development of a hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicle.
Offices for students and staff comprising of scientists and technicians have been incorporated
into the design.
Comprising of mainly a testing area and fuel storage, the centre is more of a machine than a building.
