Moatize Chairmans Villa - Mozambique

The design aims to blend the house into the context and incorporates the earth roofs to achieve this.

Level One accommodates the utility and infrastructural needs for the house with a large double garage, cold store and cellar, tank and pump room and the system hub. It also accommodates the front door which has a triple volume to the floors above with a glazed lift which serves all floors and allows effortless travel between them. It wrapped with a feature stair which when using provided different vantages over the internal and external spaces.

Level 2 comprises of three pavilion buildings which form a courtyard to the inner sanctum and retreat of the home and is headed with the most importuned public and entertaining spaces to the south and the views. The Concept for the courtyard approach to the Villa was to offer the best of both worlds being the view to the west while being able live outside with protection from the wind while making the best use of the warm climate. It is an integral design element which anchors the house which is comprised of several pavilion type buildings which are interconnected with glazed walkways. It further offers protection and privacy and includes a large pool which aims to passively cool warm summer winds over the top and through the ground floor of the villa. The exposed concrete soffits add to the passive mass cooling effect the structure can leverage off in the summer months and the inverse in winter months.

Level 3 is the most private and as a result of its position and hierarchy in the design enjoys the command of the house and the surrounds. With panoramic views and maximum privacy, the Master Level accommodates the Master bedroom, walkthrough dresser, full en-suite bathroom with folding stack away windows.

The Villa also accommodates 6 exclusive Guest Suites which are positioned on the lower portion of the site.
