East Africa Trade Tower - Kampala Uganda
The international design competition for the new East Africa Trade Centre (EATC) was won by KMH Architects. The EATC aimed to anchor the East African Economic Community’s presence within the tallest tower in Africa in the Ugandan capital of Kampala.
In addition to the commercial floors, the accommodation brief for the EATC included separate residential and international hotel and conferencing centre components.
KMH’s winning design placed the hotel on the lower tower floors accessed from a conference centre and hotel podium which included a pool terrace with panoramic views across the city.
The KMH sustainable design strategy separated the tower vertically into hotel, office and residential modules each with its own sky garden and independent services.
The project was put on hold due to political instability.
