Vodacom Atrium

Vodacom’s atrium has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving from its previous nautical-inspired interior to a design harmonizing with the building’s architectural heritage.

The original atrium, designed with a cruise ship theme by previous architects, featured maritime elements that shaped its distinctive character. However, after the atrium was damaged by a fire in July 2023, KMH were commissioned to reimagine the space with a fresh and cohesive vision.

The new design embraces Vodacom’s existing Greek-style exterior, ensuring a seamless flow between the interior and exterior architectural language.

A lot of emphasis was put into the walkway that runs over the Century City Canal and a first-of-its kind suspended water feature was constructed for access to all staff across the atrium.

Drawing inspiration from classical elements, the reimagined atrium now reflects a timeless elegance, a contemporary ruin. This transformation not only restores the atrium but also elevates it, creating a space that is both sophisticated and aligned with Vodacom HQ's architectural identity.
